Maintaining Lean

There are many conflicting methods on the best way to achieve body leanness. I manage to stay the same throughout the year with only small increases over the Holidays, Birthdays etc..
You DON’T need to train 5 days a week to get Lean. 3 x a week of well structured Strength training program (to develop lean muscle) and cardio(for heart health) exercise routine will do the job.
Short intense HIIT routines can work for some, but can become demanding on joints and if your very sedentary for most of the day a more well rounded routine will serve your body better in terms of strength, flexibility and mobility.
Eating to fuel your training requirements and your daily lifestyle is the KEY, if you consume more than you have used (even if it felt like a lot!) and don’t stay within your DAILY CALORIE ALLOWANCE you will sabotage your efforts.
Calories in/Calories Out - You still need to eat in a calorie deficit to achieve fat loss.
Yes you can still have that deserved/needed! glass of Wine [your choice here], takeaway or dine out BUT you it still needs to be WITHIN your daily calorie allowance.
Finally, CONSISTENCY.. In time it needs to be a lifestyle that you live by. It’s not restriction but it is a way of life that you regularly exercise with a combo of weights and cardio and you eat a predominately healthy and varied diet (which incl lean meats, fish, veg).
Simples!
Can this work for you?
